Reflexões de um nariz inquieto... /Meditations of a restless nose...

Já é oficial! Ontem à noite fui mandar fazer os cartões para a minha nova actividade :) Ficaram mesmo, mesmo giros (modéstia à parte, claro eheheheheheh). Agora tenho que me concentrar em dia 1/6. Estou confiante e espero que apareçam muitos miúdos para pintar...
Ontem dei por mim a pensar que, em tempos de crise como estes, que raio de maluco(a) é que decidiria iniciar uma actividade numa coisa que não é, de todo, essencial. Pois bem, eu! É verdade que não estamos em tempo de vacas gordas, mas o empreendedorismo é algo que tem faltado sistematicamente neste país esquecido pela prosperidade. Além disso, de que me serve ficar em casa a lamentar-me que o dinheiro não chega para pagar as contas? Mais vale pegar em toda a minha força e energia e transformá-las em algo produtivo e, acima de tudo, divertido!

Estou farta da passividade portuguesa...

It is official! Last night I went to make the business cards for my new activity :) They turned out really, really well (all that modesty eheheheheh). Now I have to focus on June 1st. I am confidant and I hope a lot of children turn up for me to paint their faces...
Last night I started wondering what sort of lunatic would decide to start a non-essencial business in a time of crisis like the one we're going through right now. Me, of course! It is true that things are not going so weel now, but initiative is what has been lacking in this country prosperity forgot. Besides, what good it will do me to just stay home sobbing because money is not enough to pay the bills? I may as well get a hold of my strength and energy and turn it into something productive and, most of all, fun!

I'm done with the passivity of the portuguese people...

Aventuras /Adventures

Só para vos dar uma pequena ideia das coisas que eu faço... Neste dia (05/02/08), saí de casa assim vestida e maquilhada às 7h15 da manhã. Ia matando o sr. da portagem de susto! eheheheheh. Quando cheguei à loja, já a peruca não se segurava. Então decidi ir ao hiper ver se comprava ganchos para ajudar a fixar a dita cuja. Imaginem o que foi andar às compras nesta figura... LOL! Muito bom! Bem, a parte boa foi que as pessoas que me viram no hiper fixaram-me e depois foram lá à loja com os filhos para eu os pintar, "pois, eu vi-a hoje de manhã... Está muito engraçada" e outros comentários simpáticos que me fizeram ter fé no sentido de humor dos portugueses. Afinal de contas, não é todos os dias que somos atendidos por uma gueixa, pelo Noddy, pelo Braveheart, por um bispo ou até por um simpático cãozinho ;)

Just for you to have a small idea of how crazy I am... On the 5th of February (Shrovetide), I left home looking like THIS. I almost scared the toll worker to death! eheheheheh. When I arrived at the shop, the wig wasn't holding on anymore, so I decided to go to the supermarket and buy some hair pins to help fixing the coming disaster. Imagime me going shopping looking like that... LOL! Very nice! Well, the good thing about it was that some people who saw me at the supermarket went to see where I worked and they brought their kids later on, for me to paint, "Yeah, I saw you at the supermarket this morning... You look very nice! and other nice remarks made my faith in the portuguese sense of humour come back. After all, it's not every day that you go to a shop and your attended by a gueisha, by Noddy, Braveheart, a bishop or even a nice puppy ;)

Experiências / Trying out

É claro que, sem experiência praticamente nenhuma, tive que arranjar uma forma de praticar... E adivinhem quem foi a vítima escolhida! O Miguel, claro. Devo dizer que foi um querido, que se sujeitou, não só a ser pintado e lavado sucessivamente durante horas, como ainda tirou fotos e fez sugestões de melhoramento que contribuiram, em muito, para o sucesso da causa. A ele, um grande obrigado :) Obrigada também à Vanda Lourenço pelo convite e por ter descoberto em mim um talento que eu nem sabia que tinha. Obrigada ainda aos meus colegas, que me apoiaram e me "obrigaram" a pintá-los ;)

Of course that I had no experience, and so I had to find a way to practise... And guess who was the chosen victim! Miguel, of course. I must say he was a real dear, who not only endured being painted and washed endless times, but he also took photos and made valuable suggestions for the improvement and success of the cause. I really owe him a big thanks :) I also want to thank Vanda Lourenço for the invitation and for descovering in me a talent I didn't know I had. And a big thanks to my colleagues, who supported me me and "forced" me to paint them at the shop, thus advertising my work all day long ;)

O início... / The beginning...

Bem, esta ideia surgiu quase por brincadeira... A loja onde trabalho propôs-me, no Carnaval, ajudar a dinamizar o espaço fazendo pinturas faciais a crianças. Meio a rir, meio a medo, disse que sim. A experiência foi um sucesso tao grande que até os adultos quiseram ser pintados, e eu descobri que me tinha divertido mesmo muito a fazer aquilo e gostava de repetir. Pois bem! Dia 1 de Junho lá estarei, de novo, a entreter a pequenada.
Entretanto, pensei também em disponibilizar este serviço para animaçao de aniversários e outros eventos (festas, casamentos, etc.).

Well, this idea started almost as a joke... My boss asked me if I could help dynamize the shop during Shrovetide by doing facial paintings on children. Half-laughing, half-scared to death, I said yes. The experience was a huge success, so much so that even grown-ups wanted their faces painted, and I found out I had had a reaaly good time and I wouldn't mind doing it again. oh well, wish granted! I'll be there on Children's Day (June 1st), painting faces again.

Meanwhile, I thought I could offer my services for birthdays, weddings, parties, etc.
